The Elle City Series: 2000 Meta4

She couldn’t put it off any longer. The empty line on her college application was staring her right in the face and it wouldn’t go away. It was time for Elle City to write down what major she wanted to pursue, but she still had no idea what she wanted to do. She wanted to pick something she’d be interested in, but unfortunately, downloading music, updating her NapSpace profile, watching TV, and playing the Snake game on her Motorfola flip phone were not on the list of college majors. She let out a huge sigh of frustration. Suddenly her desktop computer mysteriously shut off. The living room lights were still on, so the power didn't go out. "That's strange", she thought to herself, then went back to what she was doing.

Elle called her mom into the living room, who had been cleaning the kitchen. “Mooom, I don’t know what to put as my major on this application”, Elle said in frustration. Without much thought, her mom said “Well you’re always on that computer, so why not do computer engineering?”

Computer engineering? Elle didn’t hate the sound of that. Perhaps her mother was on to something. One of the highlights of her young life was getting her desktop, which may or may not be dead at the moment. Another notable moment was when her mom passed down her first mobile phone to her. Also, Elle loathed writing essays and there wouldn't be much essay writing in computer engineering. Plus her favorite subject was indeed calculus.

So just like that, Elle filled in that line on the application and she felt the pressure lifted from her shoulders. She was going to be a computer engineer! At that moment her computer mysteriously turned back on. Elle turned her head to the side and gave her mom a puzzled look. Her mom was smiling because she knew what that meant. Elle has started to get her powers.
